An audio interface is a device for accepting an audio signal, analog and less commonly, digital into a computer. The most common audio interface is a computer sound card. Sound cards are usually internal devices supplied with the computer. However, there are a number of external sound cards available. These are usually used to replace inferior quality internal devices, especially in laptops.
